Sustainability is no longer just a competitive advantage but has become one of the main factors influencing market access, consumer perception, and global animal protein supply chain development strategies. Aware of this transformation, the SIAVS 2026 Congress will dedicate an entire morning to the topic, bringing together representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), industry, and ESG experts to discuss how environmental, social, and governance commitments are redefining the future of animal production.
The program will take place on August 5th (Wednesday), from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, in Room 114, bringing together practical experiences, discussions on international trade, animal welfare, One Health, and the social aspects of the ESG agenda.
The panel will open at 9 AM, moderated by Ariovaldo Zani (Sindirações), with a session of case studies presented by Bruna Santarem (Naturovos), Celso Brasil (Copacol), and Wilson Camargo (Palmali). The presentations will showcase experiences developed by the companies to enhance the sustainability of production systems, strengthen operational efficiency, and add value to animal protein chains.
Following that, at 10 AM, Leonardo Isolan, from SCRI/MAPA, will present the lecture “Challenges of Sustainability in International Negotiations,” addressing how the environmental agenda is influencing trade agreements, regulatory requirements, and the competitiveness of Brazilian animal protein exports.
After the coffee break at 11 AM, the program will resume with a new stage of the panel, now moderated by Sheila Guebara (Seara).
The first presentation of the morning will be “Animal Welfare: A Trend in Brazil,” delivered by Valéria Homem (MAPA), who will discuss the evolution of public policies, regulatory requirements, and consumer market expectations regarding animal welfare practices throughout the production chain.
Following that, at 11:30 AM, Pedro Carneiro from SPLAW – Spiewak, will present the talk “One Health and ESG: How Sanitation, Environment, and Governance are Merging in Oversight, Credit, and International Trade of Animal Protein.” The presentation will highlight how the integration of animal health, environmental sustainability, and governance has been influencing public policies, financing instruments, oversight systems, and criteria adopted by international markets.
Concluding the programming, at 12 PM, the Social Panel (ESG) will be held, moderated by Cláudio Faria (Pif Paf), with a presentation by Juliana Pescara (Blinkwise). The debate will broaden the discussion on the social pillar of the ESG agenda, addressing topics related to people, organizational culture, corporate responsibility, and value generation for employees, communities, and the entire production chain.
Aimed at executives, sustainability managers, ESG professionals, international trade specialists, researchers, technicians, industry representatives, and public policymakers, the panel will offer a comprehensive overview of the challenges and opportunities shaping the competitiveness of animal protein in an increasingly ESG-driven landscape.
