Last days: registration for the ABPA applied research merit award closes on May 1st

The deadline is approaching and ABPA reinforces the call for researchers to participate in the recognition at SIAVS 2026

São Paulo, April 27, 2026 –  The deadline for submitting works for the ABPA Merit of Applicable Research, a scientific recognition promoted by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) during the International Animal Protein Show (SIAVS 2026), which will be held from August 4th to 6th at the Anhembi District in São Paulo (SP), ends on May 1st.

The initiative values research with direct practical application in the animal protein production chain, encouraging solutions that generate real gains in efficiency, sustainability, sanitary safety, and international competitiveness of Brazilian poultry and pig farming.

Merit is divided into two strategic fronts. The first is dedicated to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), recognizing research focused on the responsible use of antimicrobials and tackling microbial resistance – a priority theme on the global agenda and aligned with the One Health principles and the sector campaign “Conscious Use, Responsible Future.” The second deals with Broad Areas, encompassing studies in the areas of production, management, and environment; nutrition; technology and processes; health; sustainability; and public health.

The works will be evaluated by specialists based on criteria such as strategic relevance, innovation, methodological consistency, practical applicability, and potential impact on the sector. The selected works will be presented during SIAVS 2026, increasing their visibility among business leaders, health authorities, and representatives from Brazil and abroad.

In addition to technical recognition, the first author of the winning work in each category will participate, with the support of the organization, in an experience at one of the world's largest food fairs, with the option to choose between SIAL Paris 2026 or Gulfood 2027 in Dubai.

“We are in the final stretch and this is the decisive moment for researchers to submit their work. We want to recognize and encourage solutions that can be applied in practice, strengthening the innovation and competitiveness of Brazilian animal protein,” highlights Sula Alves, technical director of ABPA and coordinator of the SIAVS program.
