Animal recycling is undergoing a period of technical and regulatory transformation, driven by new demands in animal production and the growing requirements of international markets. It is in this context that the Brazilian Association of Animal Recycling (ABRA) holds its 12th Technical Dialogue on August 5th at 3:00 PM. This event has already established itself as one of the main spaces for technical discussion in the sector within the International Poultry and Swine Exhibition (SIAVS 2026).
Held in person and free of charge, the Technical Dialogue is part of the official program of SIAVS, which takes place between August 4th and 6th at Distrito Anhembi, in São Paulo. This edition, SIAVS expands its structure, with an expansion of the exhibition area, immersive attractions, reinforced technical program, and increased international participation.
Throughout its twelve editions, the Technical Dialogue brings together professionals, companies, researchers, and specialists to discuss applications, trends, regulatory challenges, and opportunities for animal recycling, bridging scientific knowledge and industry reality.

OPENING
The opening will be led by the Chairman of the ABRA Board of Directors, Pedro Bittar, followed by four panels addressing different segments of animal production and strategic topics for the sector.
PANEL 1
The program begins with the talk “Reducing Mineral Costs in Broiler Diets: The Role of Meat and Bone Meals in Calcium and Phosphorus Optimization,” given by veterinarian Jovanir Ines Muller Fernandes, an associate professor at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), a researcher in animal nutrition and production, and a leading expert in poultry farming, animal feed evaluation, and broiler management. The presentation will cover practical applications of meat and bone meals in optimizing calcium and phosphorus levels in poultry feed, contributing to greater nutritional efficiency and reduced production costs.
PANEL 2
Next, João Manoel Cordeiro Alves, International Director of Peixe BR (Brazilian Pisciculture Association) and senior consultant at Aquabusiness Consulting, will present the panel “Partial Replacement of Fishmeal with Terrestrial Meals: technical and economic viability of using meals in the diet of fish and shrimp,” discussing alternatives to increase the nutritional efficiency of aquaculture.
PANEL 3
The third panel will be led by veterinarian Cesar Augusto Pospissil Garbossa, an associate professor at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at the University of São Paulo (FMVZ/USP), a CNPq researcher, and a specialist in swine nutrition and production. The talk will cover “The role of animal-derived meals and fats for lactating sows,” presenting results and applications for the swine industry.
PANEL 4
Concluding the presentations, one of the most anticipated topics of this edition will be “New Animal Recycling Regulation: challenges, opportunities, and impacts of the IN 34 review for the sector,” presented by Andrea Mendes Maranhão, representative of the Department of Inspection of Animal-Origin Products (DIPOA) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA).
The lecture will bring the main updates on the review of Normative Instruction no. 34, considered the most relevant regulatory change in animal recycling in recent decades. With an almost 20-year regulatory lag, the current regulation no longer keeps pace with the level of technical development achieved by the sector nor the sanitary requirements imposed by international trade, making the update a strategic issue for the entire chain.
ROUNDTABLE
The meeting will conclude with a panel discussion moderated by Decio Coutinho, Executive President of ABRA, and Mainne Xavier, Coordinator of the entity's Technical Department, fostering a debate between speakers and attendees.

In addition to the technical programming, ABRA will be present throughout the three days of SIAVS with its own booth, a traditional meeting point for associates, sponsors, partners, and guests. The space will be located at Rua A – Booth 227, welcoming visitors for networking, information exchange, and presentation of the organization's ongoing initiatives.
