He holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos, São Paulo, and a Master’s degree in Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture, with an emphasis on Plant Health, from the Agronomic Institute of Campinas (IAC), São Paulo. He currently serves as Secretary of Agricultural Defense at SDA/MAPA.
