SIAVS 2026 extends deadline for submission of works for ABPA applicable research merit until May 10

Initiative recognizes studies with practical application in the animal protein chain and expands researcher participation

São Paulo, May 5 – The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) has extended the deadline for submitting papers to the ABPA Merit for Applicable Research until May 10. This scientific recognition will be awarded during the International Poultry and Swine Show (SIAVS 2026), the largest event for poultry and pig farming in Brazil, which will be held from August 4-6 at the Anhembi Exhibition Center in São Paulo (SP).

The initiative includes two distinct calls for proposals, aimed at valuing research with effective practical applicability for the animal protein production chain.

The first call for proposals – ABPA Merit for Applicable Research – AMR (Antimicrobial Resistance) is exclusively for studies that address strategies, tools, indicators, and practices related to the responsible use of antimicrobials and combating microbial resistance in animal production. The theme is considered strategic for the sector and is aligned with international One Health principles, within the scope of the “Conscious Use, Responsible Future” campaign, maintained by ABPA.

The second call for proposals - ABPA Merit for Applicable Research - Major Areas is aimed at scientific works with impact in areas such as production, management and environment; nutrition; technology and processes; health; sustainability; and public health.

The objective of Merit is to stimulate research that goes beyond the academic environment and presents concrete applicability, contributing to gains in efficiency, sanitary safety, sustainability, and international competitiveness of Brazilian poultry and swine farming.

The submitted works will be evaluated by a judging committee composed of specialists with recognized technical and academic experience. Among the criteria considered are strategic relevance to the sector, degree of innovation, methodological consistency, practical applicability, and potential impact on the production chain.

After the evaluation stage, the selected works will be presented during the official SIAVS 2026 program, increasing their visibility among businesspeople, researchers, health authorities, and national and international representatives.

As a form of recognition, the first author of the winning work in each of the two distinctions will participate, with the organization's support, in an international experience at one of the main global food fairs, with the option to choose between SIAL Paris 2026 in Paris or Gulfood 2027 in Dubai. This initiative provides immersion in the international business and innovation environment, strengthening the strategic training of researchers.

Registration must be completed according to the guidelines available on the official event website, which also includes the complete regulations, deadlines, submission format, and other information.
