Maintaining Brazil's high sanitary status is one of the national animal protein sector's main assets and a determining factor for opening and maintaining international markets. To discuss current challenges and strategies for preserving this heritage, the SIAVS Congress 2026 will promote the Animal Health Dashboard, bringing together specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply (MAPA), the private sector, and international organizations.
The panel will be held on August 6 (Thursday), the 9 AM to 11:30 AM, on Room 114, and will address strategic topics for animal production health, such as national disease control programs, biosecurity, prevention of African Swine Fever (ASF), and new market demands for primary production.
With moderation of Lia Coswig, do Department of Animal Health (DSA/MAPA), the programming will open at 9 AM with the talk “National Pig Health Program”, administered by Marcelo de Andrade Mota, do DSA/MAPA. The presentation will provide an update on actions taken by the Ministry of Agriculture for the prevention, surveillance, and control of the main diseases affecting Brazilian swine farming, as well as prospects for strengthening official sanitary defense programs.
To 9:30 AM, Alessandra de Lacerda Alves, also from the DSA/MAPA, will present the lecture “New Biosecurity Perspectives for Brazilian Swine Farming”, highlighting the evolution of prevention protocols, health risk management, and strengthening of protection measures on farms, in the face of an increasingly challenging international scenario.
Next, at 10 AM, the panel will address one of the most important topics in global animal health. In “African Swine Fever: International Cooperation”, Juan Ucceli will present cooperation initiatives between countries, surveillance mechanisms, and international strategies aimed at preventing the disease, considered one of the biggest threats to global swine production.
After the coffee break, at 11 AM, Eder Barbon, yes Cobb Vantress, will conclude the program with the lecture “Field-Industry Connection: Impact of Market Demands on the Primary Sector”. The presentation will discuss how requirements related to health, biosecurity, animal welfare, and sustainability are influencing production systems and demanding greater integration among producers, agribusinesses, and technology providers.
Aimed at veterinarians, quality managers, animal health professionals, researchers, agribusinesses, and producers, the Animal Health Panel will provide an updated overview of the main initiatives aimed at protecting Brazil's sanitary assets and strengthening the competitiveness of animal protein in national and international markets.
