The growth in egg consumption in Brazil, the opening of new international markets, strategies for adding value to products, and technological advancements will be among the main topics debated during the Ovos Brasil Symposium, held as part of the International Poultry and Swine Show (SIAVS), from August 4th to 6th, at the Anhembi District in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n

The meeting will bring together specialists, producers, and companies to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the egg production chain at a time of sector expansion, marked by strengthening domestic consumption and the advancement of Brazilian exports.<\/p>\n

According to the technical coordinator of the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), Tabatha Lacerda, the program was structured to offer a broad view of the future of the egg-laying poultry industry. \u201cAmong the central themes will be the behavior of the global egg market, opportunities for opening international markets for Brazilian products, marketing and positioning strategies to increase consumption and add value to products, as well as issues related to corporate estate, succession, and tax planning for companies in the sector,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n

As highlighted, the topics discussed will be strategic for ensuring competitiveness and sustainability of the activity in the coming years. \u201cTo sustain this progress, it is fundamental that producers and companies are prepared to understand market trends, identify business opportunities, strengthen their brands, and structure their businesses for the challenges of the coming decades,\u201d he reinforces.<\/p>\n

Record consumption strengthens the production chain<\/strong><\/p>\n

The discussions are taking place at a historic moment for the sector. According to ABPA projections, per capita egg consumption in Brazil reached 288 units per inhabitant per year, the highest level ever recorded in the country. For Tabatha, the result is directly linked to the consolidation of eggs as an essential food in the Brazilian diet.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe main factor is the growing recognition of the egg as a complete, nutritious, safe, and affordable food. Today, consumers have more information about the product's nutritional benefits, which offers high-quality protein, vitamins, and essential minerals for a balanced diet,\u201d he highlights.<\/p>\n

In addition to these attributes, the food's versatility has contributed to its increased presence in people's daily lives. \u201cThis growth demonstrates the consolidation of eggs as one of the most common proteins on Brazilian tables and confirms the sector's ability to meet growing demand with quality, safety, and efficiency,\u201d he highlights.<\/p>\n

This rise in consumption charts also drives new investments in production, innovation, logistics, and the development of higher value-added products, strengthening the competitiveness of national activity.<\/p>\n

Consumer drives innovation and diversification<\/strong><\/p>\n

Changes in consumer behavior have directed investments in the sector. The pursuit of quality, traceability, food safety, and convenience has stimulated the adoption of new technologies and the development of solutions tailored to different market demands.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn recent years, we have observed important advances in production processes, quality control, certifications, animal welfare, and the development of more practical and informative packaging. The offering of products with higher added value has also grown, such as liquid eggs, product lines aimed at the public seeking higher protein intake, practicality, and convenience,\u201d shares Tabatha.<\/p>\n

This scenario opens room for product diversification, brand strengthening, and increased consumption in channels like food service, convenience retail, and away-from-home eating. \u201cThe trend is for this closer alignment between consumer demands and the chain's innovation capacity to continue driving the sector's growth in the coming years,\u201d he evaluates.<\/p>\n

Technology and sustainability in focus at SIAVS<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition to discussions, SIAVS attendees will have access to a wide range of technologies, equipment, and solutions for all stages of production.<\/p>\n

Among the highlights are farm automation technologies, real-time performance monitoring, data-based management systems, equipment for egg grading and processing, as well as solutions for biosecurity, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n

Topics such as traceability, animal welfare, waste reduction, byproduct utilization, and operational efficiency improvement are also gaining ground.<\/p>\n
