The International Animal Protein Exhibition (SIAVS), the largest event in Brazil\u2019s animal protein sector, exceeded all expectations set by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), the organizing entity of the event, which concluded yesterday, August 8, at Distrito Anhembi in S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil.<\/span><\/p>\n

With initial projections of 25,000 visitors, the largest edition ever held of SIAVS reached 30,000 registered attendees from more than 60 countries, especially from Latin America, Europe and Asia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the opening ceremony alone, 2,000 people attended in person the keynote lecture delivered by economist Eduardo Giannetti, moderated by journalist Luiz Henrique Mendes. The opening ceremony was attended by Brazil\u2019s Minister of Agriculture, Carlos F\u00e1varo, the Minister of Agrarian Development, Paulo Teixeira, and the Governors of Paran\u00e1, Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, Santa Catarina, Jorginho Mello, and Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, as well as the President of the Parliamentary Front for Agriculture, Federal Deputy Pedro Lupion, and Senator Tereza Cristina. Also present were the Secretaries of Agriculture and Supply of S\u00e3o Paulo, Guilherme Piai, Agrarian Development of Pernambuco, C\u00edcero Moraes, Environment of Mato Grosso do Sul, Eduardo Riedel, and the President of Agrodefesa of Goi\u00e1s, Jos\u00e9 Roberto Caixeta. Ambassadors, diplomats, members of parliament and leaders from the public and private sectors also attended the ceremony.<\/span><\/p>\n

In total, 317 exhibitors took part across more than 30,000 square meters of exhibition space. These included companies specializing in genetics, equipment, inputs, laboratories, technological solutions and other suppliers to the production chain, as well as more than 100 brands from the animal protein industry and 90 companies involved in the production, processing and export of animal protein. Participants included ABPA member companies from the poultry and pork sectors and partners such as ABIEC, representing the beef sector, Peixe BR for farmed fish, among others.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

More than 2,500 conference attendees participated in person in the presentations delivered by 80 speakers over the three day program. In addition, 2,400 producers linked to the Producer Project took part, an SIAVS initiative with a specially designed agenda for producers. For those unable to attend in person, SIAVS Remote offered a special program that attracted more than 300 registered participants from dozens of universities and educational institutions across Brazil.<\/span><\/p>\n

At SIAVS Talks, the space dedicated to innovation and technology presentations for the sector, more than 600 participants followed the presentations of 21 startups from across the country. Hundreds of other visitors took part in an immersion into the production chain through SIAVS Experience, featuring 360 degree videos and panels and audiovisual content showcasing the production chain.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe were pleasantly surprised by the strong engagement of the entire global production chain at SIAVS 2024. We established a new benchmark for the event, with participation from sector entities not only from Brazil but from various regions around the world. For these three days, SIAVS was the meeting point of the global animal protein chain,\u201d says ABPA President Ricardo Santin.<\/span><\/p>\n
