PhageLab will unveil groundbreaking research on the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to combat multidrug resistant bacteria in southern Brazil. The results will be presented at SIAVS Talks, part of the International Poultry and Swine Exhibition, in S\u00e3o Paulo. Pablo Cifuentes, CTO of PhageLab, will present the findings on August 8 at 12:00 pm, highlighting the company\u2019s platform for mapping and reducing these bacteria in the country\u2019s main production region.<\/p>\n
Over the past three years, collaboration with the industry in southern Brazil has enabled the adoption of improved management practices and the development of new products to meet the needs of poultry and livestock producers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe Brazil is a major export powerhouse. We are committed to increasing the country\u2019s competitiveness on the global stage, accessing new markets with strict biosecurity and food safety regulations. The application of tailor made phages for specific Brazilian bacteria contributes to reducing the use of antimicrobials, minimizing adverse effects on humans and animals, with an efficacy rate of 93 percent,\u201d highlights Cifuentes.<\/p>\n
This year, the startup launched F\u00d3RMIDA A, the first phage based treatment for Escherichia coli in poultry approved by the Ministry of Agriculture in Brazil. INSPEKTOR B, which targets salmonella, is already widely adopted across the country.<\/p>\n
PhageLab has significantly expanded its operations in Brazil. Investments received by the startup have been directed toward strengthening infrastructure, expanding production capacity to serve the growing Brazilian market, and contributing to the sustainability of the agribusiness sector.<\/p>\n
