Following the theme of this edition\u2019s program, the exhibition invited leading CEOs from the food industry to share best practices.<\/em><\/p>\n

Wednesday at SIAVS featured an intense agenda that included research presentations and conference content, trade fair exhibitions, and exclusive panels and lectures. Among the high profile guests, the morning highlight was the presence of top executives leading businesses and brands widely recognized not only by producers but also by end consumers.<\/p>\n

The business panel titled Competitiveness factors of Brazilian poultry and swine production was led and moderated by the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin. The session presented case studies, experiences, trends, and best practices from companies such as BRF, Seara, Aurora, and S\u00e3o Salvador Alimentos, respectively represented by CEOs Lorival Nogueira of BRF, Jo\u00e3o Campos of Seara, Neivor Canton of Aurora, and Jos\u00e9 Garrote of S\u00e3o Salvador.<\/p>\n

Key challenges discussed included the following questions<\/p>\n

> How to sustainably increase the global protein supply by 70 percent
\n> With 9.7 billion people worldwide by 2050, how will production meet demand
\n> How to build the structure needed to support the growing demand for food<\/p>\n

When discussing exports and profitability, the speakers presented impactful figures for 2022, such as a 25 percent increase in the price of exported chicken, compared to only 9 percent growth for pork.
\nLorival Nogueira of BRF emphasized that there is still a challenge related to pork preparation and the need to demystify pork consumption to leverage these numbers.<\/p>\n

Environmental, social, and financial sustainability was widely addressed through practices already adopted by the companies, including the expansion of renewable energy use, fleet electrification, promotion of a low carbon cattle chain, and investments totaling R$ 4 billion in 2022 focused on ESG actions, job creation exclusively for women, innovation and technology, and technical training for integrated producers.<\/p>\n

Reinforcing the message and encouraging a new path for sustainable business, the Governor of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo, Rodrigo Garcia, attended the event alongside the State Secretary of Agriculture, Francisco Maturro. He mentioned the record investment by the S\u00e3o Paulo government in agricultural research, while noting that further progress is still needed. He recalled his rural roots and stated that despite its industrial profile, the state has an essentially agricultural vocation. He said this represents Brazil itself, from the coffee and sugarcane cycles to cattle, and now poultry and swine production. According to him, holding SIAVS in S\u00e3o Paulo is proof of this vocation and the sectors will continue to receive strong government support.<\/p>\n

Shortly before, Garcia met with poultry, swine, and egg producers and exporters from S\u00e3o Paulo. Afterwards, the delegation, accompanied by the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin, visited the exhibition stands at Anhembi Parque in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n
