With a full schedule of content sessions and an exhibition running over the coming days, the international trade show kicked off the 2022 edition on a high note.<\/p>\n

With the presence of around 2,000 people at the Celso Furtado Convention Palace, SIAVS brought together speakers, conference attendees, journalists, guests, exhibitors, and visitors at the official opening ceremony held on the morning of Tuesday, August 9.\n\nFocused on the theme \u201cSustainability and Food Production\u201d, the Minister of the Environment, Joaquim Leite, opened the event with discussions on innovative practices and how these proposals connect with global expectations regarding food production and consumption.\n\nFollowing the same thematic approach, the President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, received the competitiveness study prepared by ABPA and, in his speech, addressed agricultural activities across the country and the responsibility of Brazilian producers in the future of the food industry. \u201cWe are a key food producer for the world,\u201d Bolsonaro stated, reinforcing the fact that Brazil is the world\u2019s largest producer and exporter of poultry and pork.\n\nIn addition to Bolsonaro, the ceremony included eight current ministers, as well as the president of the Advisory Board, Francisco Turra, the president of the Board of Directors, Leomar Somensi, and the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile supermarket shelves around the world were emptying during the Covid 19 pandemic, Brazil increased production and kept food on Brazilian tables. Brazilian rural producers play a leading role in the commitment to feed millions of people in Brazil and worldwide,\u201d said Santin.<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span>At every SIAVS edition, the Brazilian Animal Protein Association ABPA honors three major figures from the technical, business, and political sectors. In 2022, it was no different. Represented by the Lauriston von Schmidt Merit Trophy, the technical field award was presented to Ana L\u00facia de Paula Viana, a veterinarian, federal tax auditor, director of the Department of Inspection of Products of Animal Origin, and the first woman in history to hold the highest position within Brazil\u2019s federal inspection service for animal origin products.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>For the political sector award, the honoree was Federal Deputy Domingos S\u00e1vio, currently serving his third term and a member of the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock, Supply, and Rural Development. He played a significant role in the approval of the new Forest Code and is a strong advocate for rural causes.<\/span>
\n<\/span> In the business category, Fl\u00e1vio Rog\u00e9rio Wallauer was honored for his role in genetic development. Founder of Agrogen, Frangosul, and Vibra, he currently generates thousands of jobs and exports production to more than 50 countries.
\n<\/span>
\nSIAVS is the largest trade fair for the poultry, pork, and egg production and export chains in Brazil and has already recorded growth of approximately 30 percent compared to the previous edition. Held at Anhembi Park in S\u00e3o Paulo, the event has doubled in size. The 2022 edition includes more than 200 additional companies and organizations across over 20,000 square meters of exhibition space.<\/p>\n

After the opening ceremony, attendees were able to access the full exhibition structure, featuring booths from equipment suppliers for the sector, genetic companies, laboratories, feed producers, along with nearly 50 agribusiness companies from poultry, pork, eggs, farmed fish, beef and dairy cattle, as well as the buffalo sector.<\/p>\n
