Producers and members of the swine production chain will discuss technical challenges as well as market and consumption trends for pork in Brazil during the ABCS Symposium, a free event that is part of the program of the International Poultry and Swine Show SIAVS, scheduled to take place from August 9 to 11 at Anhembi Park in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Scheduled for the first day of SIAVS on August 9, the ABCS Symposium, organized by the Brazilian Association of Swine Breeders ABCS, will feature two panels with presentations by specialists focused on consumer behavior, market trends, and technical challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first panel will address market trends and experiences from haute cuisine, moderated by Valdomiro Ferreira J\u00fanior, president of the S\u00e3o Paulo Association of Swine Breeders APCS. The consumption experience will be the focus of the presentation by chef and influencer Jimmy Ogro, who will discuss the journey of pork from a basic food to a star of haute cuisine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following this panel, still focusing on market and consumption, Alexandre Mendon\u00e7a de Barros, partner and consultant at MB Associados, will address trends and perspectives for Brazilian pork.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the second panel, moderated by ABCS technical director Charli Ludtke, the evolution of genetics and sanitary monitoring will be discussed. In the first presentation, the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fl\u00e1via Mattos, will highlight the importance of the Canan\u00e9ia Quarantine Station in the national and international context.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The discussion will be reinforced by a presentation from Gustavo Sim\u00e3o, veterinarian responsible for veterinary services at the Brazilian Association of Swine Genetics Companies ABEGS, who will address the evolution of swine genetics from an importing model to an export platform. F\u00e1bio Vanucci, from the University of Minnesota in the United States, will close the panel with a reflection on the importance of diagnosis and sanitary monitoring in swine production.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe ABCS symposium at SIAVS will address very important and structural topics for the swine production chain. We will discuss market perspectives and how haute cuisine has added value to pork. Each year we increase pork consumption in Brazil, and we achieve this result by prioritizing biosecurity and genetic improvement, among other factors. That is why these topics could not be left out. Today, in addition to importing genetic material, Brazil also exports it. We have improved our legislation and achieved a high level of biosecurity and animal welfare on farms. All of this has an impact at the point of sale, when the consumer chooses our protein. Price may be an attraction, but the quality, flavor, and origin of our meat ensure continued consumption. In other words, all these points that we will address at the symposium need to be highlighted so that our production continues to improve more and more,\u201d said Marcelo Lopes, president of ABCS.<\/span><\/p>\n
