SIAVS promotes panel with female leaders

With prominent names, discussions addressed sustainability and economic longevity.

On the first day of the SIAVS fair, the event's schedule included an exclusive agenda to share business practices developed by female leaders..
The “Women of Protein: Sustainability Program Management” panel brought together prominent figures in agribusiness to discuss challenges and trends in rural entrepreneurship, focusing on expanding business generation and farm profitability.
Successful producers such as Luciana Dalmagro and Chris Morais, Ana Claudia Badra Cotait, president of the Council for Entrepreneurship and Culture (CMEC), and agricultural tax auditor Lia Treptow Coswig were part of the panel discussion moderated by Joanita Maestri Karoleski, president of the JBS Fund for the Amazon.

On an afternoon of exchanges and tips on ESG best practices, business, and economic sustainability, the guests discussed how to increase women's participation in agribusiness and how this positively impacts results.

Among the presented data, it is known that as of 2019, about 18%of rural properties are headed by women. Among the highlights listed from their experiences on their properties and businesses are the balance between environmental sustainability and economic longevity. According to Chris Morais, investment in research, science, and entrepreneurship has increased their production capacity by more than 600%.
Simple, practical, and sustainable everyday tips were also mentioned, such as the use and production of biogas, sustainable pastures, reuse of scrap iron, and other points that directly impacted the increase in carcass weight.

Despite the systemic and differentiated outlook of women in agriculture, the guests reaffirmed the difficulty in joining forces and reaching women in agribusiness. They reinforced their goals to unite in business with more female leadership and respect for the environment, stating, “we are all on the same planet,” highlighted Chris.
