Buffalo Sector Confirms Participation

Following the participation of the farmed fish sector and the beef and dairy cattle sectors, SIAVS Multiproteins August 9 to 11 at Anhembi Parque in São Paulo, Brazil, will now also include the Brazilian buffalo production chain. The national representative body of buffalo producers, the Brazilian Buffalo Breeders Association (ABCB), has confirmed its participation in the SIAVS commercial exhibition.

With an exclusive space at the event, ABCB will present the attributes of the buffalo, an animal with triple aptitude for meat, milk, and draft power. In this context, the association will hold an exhibition and tasting featuring several dairy products, such as buffalo cheeses.

The initiative will also focus on promoting the ABCB Purity Seal program, which certifies that the dairy product is made with 100 percent buffalo milk, without the addition of milk from other animals. The seal was created in the 2000s and, since then, there has been a 549 percent increase in the volume of milk collected by participants in the program, according to estimates from the association.

The exhibition will also feature milk with A2A2 beta casein, which does not cause inflammatory reactions in the body that lead to poor digestion and fermentation. One of the advantages of buffalo milk is the presence of readily available vitamin A, in addition to offering twice the amount of CLA particles (conjugated linoleic acid), a substance with anticancer properties. Another advantage of buffaloes is their meat, which has health benefits, containing 40 percent less cholesterol, 55 percent fewer calories, and 12 times less fat.

“We are carrying out strong promotion of buffalo products throughout Brazil. We want to highlight the importance of the Purity Seal, which is an ABCB certification that guarantees retailers and end consumers the quality and 100 percent origin of buffalo milk, as well as reinforcing ABCB’s commitment, together with the Purity Seal, to promoting buffalo meat,” emphasizes Desireé Hastenpflug Möller, president of Ascribu (Southern Association of Buffalo Breeders) and fiscal council member of ABCB, as well as a veterinarian and buffalo breeder.
