The 2022 edition of the International Poultry and Pork Trade Show (SIAVS), the largest event for these sectors in Brazil, ended with record-breaking results. The event was held by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) from August 9 to 11 at Anhembi Parque in São Paulo.

As the main political milestone for the production chains, SIAVS featured, at its opening ceremony, the presence of President Jair Bolsonaro, accompanied by First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro, Vice President Hamilton Mourão, and seven ministers, including the Ministers of Agriculture Marcos Montes, Environment Joaquim Leite, Education Victor Godoy, Women, Family and Human Rights Cristiane Rodrigues Britto, as well as the Chief of Staff Ciro Nogueira and the Attorney General of the Union Bruno Bianco, in addition to other authorities and leaders of Brazilian agribusiness.

After the opening, an extensive program of lectures and debates began under the theme “Sustainable Production: Pathways to Global Food Security”. In total, 2,300 conference participants and 80 speakers took part in technical and current affairs discussions. Highlights included the CEOs Panel, bringing together leaders of agribusiness companies to debate the future directions of the production chain. Other panels addressed future outlooks for animal protein, competitiveness, crisis management, logistics, and technical issues such as antimicrobials and salmonellosis.

With an area 30 percent larger, SIAVS featured around 200 exhibitors of equipment, biological and pharmaceutical inputs, feed, and other suppliers from different areas of the production chain, showcasing their technologies and products across more than 20,000 square meters.

Through the SIAVS Multiprotein initiative, more than 40 agribusiness companies producing poultry, pork, beef, dairy products, buffalo products, and farmed fish conducted business with importers and representatives of the national retail sector present at the event.

Major equipment manufacturers, genetic companies, laboratories, feed producers, and service providers participated in the trade show, alongside purchasing decision-makers from slaughterhouses, integrated and independent producers, importers from target markets for Brazilian proteins, and wholesale and retail supermarket representatives, among others.

SIAVS 2022 also included the participation of Banco do Brasil and Caixa Econômica Federal. Offering special credit lines for the agribusiness audience, these financial institutions brought mobile units that were stationed within the exhibition area.

In total, 21,000 visitors from 53 countries attended the event, the highest number ever recorded. Through the Producer Project, 1,900 integrated poultry and pork producers from various production hubs participated.

Focused on innovation and the promotion of new opportunities, SIAVS introduced exclusive attractions in this edition, such as SIAVS Talks, an unprecedented initiative that brought together business incubators, research institutions, academics, and industry entrepreneurs in a dedicated space with presentations inspired by the TED format, within the trade show area.

The event also featured SIAVS Experience, an immersive journey through the production chain with an area of more than 70 square meters dedicated exclusively to the experience, including giant LED screens arranged in a mirror maze, as well as a room with mapped projection creating a three-dimensional optical illusion. The experience was enhanced by sound design and forest scents released strategically through diffusers installed throughout the space.

At the conclusion, ABPA President Ricardo Santin celebrated the return of the event. “A great success. The return of SIAVS crowned a sector that ensured food on the tables of Brazilians after one of the most difficult periods in human history. We went further by debating how to meet growing global demand while ensuring sustainable production and preserving natural resources. We broke participation records at the event and also in the production and export of poultry, pork, and eggs. Above all, we reinforced Brazil’s importance in supporting global food security,” he concluded.

The next edition of SIAVS is already scheduled and will take place from August 6 to 8, 2024, at Distrito Anhembi in São Paulo. Follow updates about the event at www.siavs.com.br
