Elanco Animal Health will take part in SIAVS 2024, the International Animal Protein Exhibition, from August 6 to 8 in São Paulo (SP), showcasing its portfolio of preventive solutions for swine and poultry production in Brazil. “We will present a product pipeline that addresses the main trends in the global swine and poultry production chains,” says Thaís Vieira, Elanco’s Monogastrics Marketing Manager in Brazil.

Among the strategies highlighted by Thaís is the use of a unique and innovative vaccine for the control of post weaning diarrhea in piglets. This solution aims to position customers who adopt the technology at a differentiated level by acting proactively in relation to future market changes and trends. Another approach is the use of vaccines administered via drinking water, which promote ease of application and animal welfare, combined with product efficacy and safety. Finally, there is a strong focus on the nutritional line, which complements Elanco’s portfolio with the concept of solutions from all angles, offering different products and integrated approaches.

“Our presence at SIAVS reinforces one of Elanco’s main differentiators, which is the value proposition of its solutions, combined with innovation, field presence, technical expertise and high impact projects that go far beyond product sales, including data analysis and sustainability in the sector,” says Thaís.

Trends put into practice

In vaccines, Elanco offers the only oral vaccine available in the Brazilian market specifically focused on controlling post weaning diarrhea in piglets, Coliprotec™ F4/F18. The vaccine is certified in animal welfare, as it ensures rapid protection seven days after application and is administered orally to piglets from 18 days of age. In poultry production, within the Salmonella control line, the company developed AviPro™ Megan™ Vac 1, a live vaccine for broilers with a single dose, applied via spray at the hatchery, inducing mucosal immunity and effectively protecting birds during the most critical period for Salmonella infection. “These are examples of our innovation in vaccines,” says Thaís.

Regarding nutritional products for poultry and swine, Elanco offers solutions that promote better intestinal integrity with a positive impact on animal performance. One example is Hemicell™ HT, an energy saving enzyme that eliminates compounds that interfere with intestinal quality in poultry and swine. Another is Protexin™ Concentrate, a probiotic additive that supports the balance of intestinal microbiota in both species.

In the field, Elanco works with low cost and high impact projects for farms and animal welfare, such as the Pre Slaughter Program for swine, which helps producers reduce incidents and can lower pig mortality rates by up to three times at this stage. Another highlight is the Health Tracking System HTSi, a health monitoring and data analysis tool for broilers and laying hens in commercial farms. This unique platform collects and analyzes data to support important decision making in poultry companies, such as the choice of anticoccidial or vaccination protocols. HTSi is currently an extensive global database on poultry health, covering more than one million animals and used in several countries, providing effective support for selecting the best preventive and therapeutic strategies.

“At SIAVS, our team will be available to discuss the impact of innovations like these on animal health and welfare and, consequently, on the productivity and sustainability of Brazilian farms,” says Thaís.

Elanco Animal Health currently holds the certification “Animal Welfare Friendly Company,” granted by the auditing organization Fair Food, which is awarded only to companies whose portfolios and internal processes comply with universal animal welfare principles.
