Leaders from the poultry, pork, beef, eggs, dairy and farmed fish sectors will debate the future of animal protein production and trade in the coming years during a panel to be held at the International Poultry and Swine Industry Show (SIAVS), the largest event for the sectors in Brazil, scheduled to take place from August 9 to 11 at Anhembi Park in São Paulo.
The panel will take place on the last day of the event, Thursday, within the SIAVS Multiproteins program and will feature a presentation by Justin Sherrard, Global Animal Protein Strategist at Rabobank.
The representative of the world’s largest agribusiness focused bank will address global perspectives for protein production and trade within the new global context, considering the expected overcoming of the pandemic, conflicts between nations, protectionism, inflation, production costs and other relevant factors.
The presentation will be followed by analyses from the presidents of the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), Ricardo Santin; the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (ABIEC), Antônio Jorge Camardelli; the Brazilian Association of Fish Farming (Peixe BR), Francisco Medeiros; and the executive director of the Brazilian Dairy Association (Viva Lácteos), Gustavo Beduschi.
“We will bring together distinct production chains in a debate that will address issues such as global demand for protein, sensitive markets, the resurgence of protectionism, the effects of sanitary crises and how each sector views its own role as a global player. This year, several new challenges have emerged for food exporters. The debate will reflect on these issues and discuss paths to maintaining sustainable food security,” analyzes ABPA president Ricardo Santin.

ABOUT SIAVS - Organized by ABPA, the main poultry and pork industry event in Brazil will be even larger than its previous edition held in 2019. Its commercial area has been expanded by 20 percent, adding new annexes to the space traditionally occupied by the exhibition. Space sales are nearly sold out.
In addition to business opportunities, SIAVS will host the largest technical congress in the sector, featuring an extensive program and more than 100 speakers from Brazil and other countries. The political relevance of the event is another distinguishing factor, with authorities from the national and state executive and legislative branches expected to attend, further strengthening the event’s role as the main forum for debate on the future of the sectors.
In 2019, the event welcomed more than 20,000 visitors from 50 countries, with over 170 exhibitors. Across dozens of congress rooms, more than 100 speakers from Brazil and other countries delivered presentations to 2,400 congress participants.
