Public and private sectors debate rules and directions for the sustainable development of animal protein production

The discussion of environmental issues and the development of sustainable animal production from an environmental perspective will be the focus of a debate taking place during the International Animal Protein Show, SIAVS, the largest event in the sector in Brazil, scheduled from August 6 to 8 at the Anhembi District in São Paulo.

Scheduled for the first day of SIAVS, August 6, the panel will address the institutional and political vision of the government for strengthening environmentally sustainable agribusiness.

This perspective will also be shared by the private sector, specifically within the scope of animal protein production, including the presentation of successful case studies implemented by agribusiness companies in the sector.

Opening the panel, Renata Miranda, Secretary of Innovation at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, will present the government’s view on the topic. She will be followed by Fernando Sampaio, Sustainability Director at the Brazilian Association of Meat Industries, ABIEC, who will highlight the sustainable transition of production chains. This will be complemented by sector specific case examples presented by Gabrieli Paula Bertella and Ana Carolina Columbeli, representatives of animal protein companies.

“The debate will be marked by a multidisciplinary view of the topic, connecting the public sector agenda with what is being implemented by private initiatives. We will have a broad overview of the issue from an environmental perspective, fostering the development of new insights for the Brazilian sector, which already operates at an advanced level on this topic,” explains Sula Alves, Technical Director and Program Coordinator.
