Different sectors debate perspectives and bottlenecks for Brazil’s competitive capacity

São Paulo, June 20, 2024. The competitive challenges to maintaining Brazil’s global leadership in animal protein will be the focus of a debate scheduled during the International Animal Protein Show, SIAVS, the largest event in the sector in Brazil, to be held from August 6 to 8 at the Anhembi District in São Paulo.

Scheduled for the last day of the event, August 8, the panel titled “Conjunctural challenges for sustainable competitiveness” will bring together representatives from government, research institutions and companies in the sector to address different factors that directly impact the competitive capacity of the agribusiness chain, such as rail and port logistics, grain supply and commercialization, and tax barriers.

The National Secretary of Ports, Alex Sandro de Ávila, will open the panel by presenting challenges and perspectives on advances in port logistics and rail access to Brazilian ports. Next, Embrapa Swine and Poultry researcher Dirceu Talamini will address strategic aspects of grain supply and sector initiatives in winter crops as alternatives for supply.

Fernando Zupirolli, President of ABPA’s Legislative and Tax Affairs Chamber and a member of Seara Alimentos, will present current issues that represent tax challenges for Brazil’s production and competitiveness.

Moderated by José Perboyre, coordinator of the Logistics Group at the Brazilian Animal Protein Association, ABPA, the panel will also include an analysis of opportunities and challenges in the international market for Brazilian animal protein, presented by consultant Guillermo Henderson.

“We will bring together several competitive fronts to build insights into problems and possible solutions for the animal protein chain we envision for the future, with greater competitiveness and the ability to overcome obstacles, focused on maintaining its position as a global leader,” highlights Perboyre.
