The advances in genetic improvement and the regulatory challenges that underpin the competitiveness of Brazilian poultry farming will be on the agenda at SIAVS Congress 2026. On the day August 5 (Wednesday), the 2 PM to 4 PM, a Room 114 will receive the Poultry Genetics Panel, bringing together representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and major global companies in the sector to discuss innovation, international trade, and perspectives for the next decade.
The foundation of the productive advancement observed in recent decades, poultry genetics is responsible for significant gains in zootechnical performance, feed efficiency, health, flock uniformity, and production sustainability. With moderation of Bruno Pessamilio, yes Vision Consulting, the panel will begin at 2 PM with the talk “Agro-Vigilance Challenges”, administered by Rita Lourenço, do MAPA/Vigiagro, which will present the main challenges related to the international agricultural surveillance system and its impacts on the flow of genetic material and strategic inputs for poultry production.
Next, at 2:30 PM, the topic will be addressed “SISA/SP Challenges”, bringing an overview of the processes related to the Inspection Service of Animal Health Inputs and its importance for the production chain.
To 3 p.m., Ailton Locatelli, yes Aviagen, will present the lecture “International Trade of Poultry Genetic Material”, discussing the global dynamics of this market, sanitary requirements, logistical challenges, and Brazil's role in international poultry genetics supply chains.
Ending the programming, at 3:30 PM, Conrado Monteiro, yes Cobb Vantress, will give the lecture “Innovation in chicken genetics for the next decade”, highlighting the trends that should guide genetic improvement programs in the coming years, with a focus on productive efficiency, robustness, animal welfare, sustainability, and meeting new consumer market demands.
