Public and private sector representatives debate Brazilian and international perspectives on the topic
São Paulo, June 18, 2024. Authorities and experts from organizations in Brazil and abroad will bring to the agenda of the International Animal Protein Show, SIAVS, taking place from August 6 to 8 at the Anhembi District in São Paulo, one of the most relevant technical topics for the global animal protein chain in recent years: risk based process control.
A topic that gained political and technical prominence in 2023 and continued to be widely discussed in 2024, risk based process control will be debated in a panel scheduled for the first day of SIAVS 2024, August 6.
At the seminar, which will be opened by the Secretary of Agricultural Defense of Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, Carlos Goulart, the concept of risk analysis will be presented by Luís Gustavo Corbellini, CEO of Corb Science Solutions. This will be followed by a presentation on risk analysis for poultry process control by Embrapa Swine and Poultry researcher Luisinho Caron. Embrapa researcher Jalusa Deon Kich will then address process control in the swine sector.
The European experience in implementing risk based food safety assurance systems will also be discussed in a presentation by Lis Alban, representative of the Danish Agriculture and Food Council in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The event will conclude with an overview of the Ministry’s perspectives on sanitary inspection in Brazil, presented by Juliana Satie, Director of the Department of Inspection of Animal Origin Products at MAPA.
“Risk based inspection is a topic that is rapidly evolving in Brazil. In this sense, the panel will provide an important sector wide immersion into the subject, allowing us to mature different perspectives, including international ones, on an advancement that is essential for competitiveness and quality promotion,” analyzes Sula Alves, Technical Director at ABPA and coordinator of the SIAVS program.
